Doughnuts
I just got a craving for homemade doughnuts...have you ever made them?
Roll them all up...Pat them all down...
And mark them with a "B" and put them in the fryer for Baby and me...
And some hot apple pies for Lawson too of course.....

Bittersweet...
So... I took a vacation day... God forbid... To attend the annual NYS CEC ( council of exceptional children) conference. A conference that I was scheduled to present at... And what do you suppose happens...SICK! Ugh! and of course on a beautiful fall day... So I slept most of the morning... And determined to shake myself out of the depression I felt having missed my conference ... And disappointing the world, I took a bunch of cold medicine and headed to my MIL house with my three year old, Layton, to try and salvage the day... And that we did!
While there we decided to make a wreath out of bittersweet gathered on their property. But first I needed a frame...and my FIL and BIL delivered!
Next, we took the gator out into the grapes...and looked for the bittersweet...
There was so much and it was such a beautiful day! It sparkled in the sun...Layton and Shirley got to work chopping down the bittersweet...
As I wove and wove and wove...
Until... VoilĂ ... A fall wreath...
Then my nephew Nick drive us out to the corn field to get some corn stalks ...
And we chopped some down for our front porch...
So even though the day started as a disappointment... I decided that it was ... well ... Bittersweet!

Adventures in Bread Making
So here is the latest, and so far the best recipe I have used... Inspired by my latest pj & movie night (after chaperoning a volleyball game) in which I watched Julie & Julia based on the life of Julia Child. Six hours of labor... Three and 1/2 cups of flour... A flour dusted kitchen floor... And a ton of stress relief later and...
Un bon pain... It was so yummy... Crunchy and chewy and everything nice! The recipe was from Julia Child's "The Way To Cook". I have to admit that everything I have ever made from this cookbook have turned out amazing...fall weekend baking therapy at it's finest...
